Hot Electron Injection in Plasmon-Assisted Catalysis
Prof. Miguel A. Correa-Duarte, Universidad de Vigo, Spain
The generation of hot electrons is an intrinsic property of all plasmonic nanocrystals under illumination. However, the number of such excited electrons will strongly depend on the shape, material, and excitation wavelength. Herein, interactions between plasmonic metal nanoparticles of different shapes and materials, and a semiconductor nanocrystal, will be discussed, paying special attention to the hot electron injection process for photocatalysis. Accordingly, several synthetic strategies for the implementation of such photocatalytic systems on different applications will be also detailed.
