Immunoprotein arrays for basic science and medical diagnosis
Prof. Sebastian Springer, Jacobs University Bremen
The immune system can detect virus-infected cells and tumor cells because the T cell receptor of the T cell recognizes so-called MHC proteins on the target cell. We use this protein-protein interaction to build microarrays that explain some basic aspects of the immune response, and we are working on arrays that will capture and detect tumor-specific T cells from the blood of patients.
