CeNS Winter Retreat 2025
February 12-14, 2025
Scope of the Retreat
This retreat brings together early career researchers of the Center for NanoScience in an informal atmosphere. Student talks and a poster session will give the graduate students an overview of current research within CeNS and allow them to train their presentation skills. In addition, a workshop on transferable skills, two career talks and social activities will complement the program.
Venue
The retreat takes place at the Sportcamp Spitzingsee in the beautiful scenery of the Spitzingsee. Travel from and to Munich will be by bus (departure from Geschwister-Scholl-Platz February 12 at 9.00 am).
Program
We will depart from Munich on Wednesday, February 12 at 9.00 am and will return to Munich on Friday, February 14 around 3.00 pm. The retreat will combine:
- oral presentations by PhD students (20 minutes each). For all participants giving oral presentations, our trainer Barbara Beege will be giving individual feedback after the talks.
- poster session
- career talks: Prof. Lukas Milles, LMU Gene Center & MPI of Biochemistry, and Markus Stein, Marvel Fusion
- workshop presentation techniques.This workshop will prepare you to improve your presentation skills. You will be able to practice your newly acquired knowledge directly and receive feedback.
- presentation of the results of the PhD survey. We are taking some time to present and discuss the outcome of 2024's CeNS survey. What are key chanllenges and reoccuring problems? How has the situation changed compared to previous years? And what further measures can CeNS take to improve
- outdoor activities: skiing/winter hiking sleigh riding
Registration
The workshop is open to CeNS associates and is free of charge. The number of places is limited to 25. Please register online by January 30.
Accommodation
We have booked twin and quadruple rooms from Wednesday to Friday in the Sportcamp Spitzingsee. Meals are included.
