German Business Founder Award goes to CeNS spin-off company

Nanion Technologies GmbH wins renowned award for company founders

Yesterday, the CeNS spin-off company Nanion Technologies once more received an impressive acknowledgment of its work by winning the German Business Founder Award (Deutscher Gründerpreis)  in the category "Rising Star / Aufsteiger". The renowned Business Prize was awarded in Berlin in the presence of Dr. Karl-Theodor Freiherr zu Guttenberg, Federal Minister of Economy and Technology. The young team of Nanion Technologies had been nominated by the Jury "for developing and commercializing products based on scientific results from basic research in just five years and reaching break-even after only two years. [...]"

Nanion Technologies develops, produces and commercializes instrumentation for the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry based on their automated planar patch-clamp technology which allows a faster medical drug screening. The Munich-based company was founded in 2002 by Jan Behrends and Niels Fertig of the Center for NanoScience (CeNS) at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich.

For the second time in a row, the German Business Founder Award in the category "Rising Star / Aufsteiger" went to a CeNS spin-off company: in 2008, attocube systems AG was the winner of the award.
