Dieter Braun wins ERC starting grant
CeNS professor successful in EU-wide competition for research funds
The European Research Council (ERC) has granted one of the prestigious Starting Independent Researcher Grants to Professor Dieter Braun (LMU Munich). He convinced the peer review panel of the ERC with his research proposal on "Autonomous DNA Evolution in a Molecule Trap" and will now receive a sum of 1.5 Mio for the next 5 years.
Since 2007, Dieter Braun is independent, tenured W2-Professor on Systems Biophysics at the LMU Munich. From 2003 to 2007, he directed an Emmy-Noether Group at the Chair of Prof. Hermann Gaub.
Dieter Braun is already the third winner of an ERC starting grant within CeNS: in 2009, Jens Michaelis (LMU Munich) and Matthias Schneider (at that time at the University of Augsburg) were successful in this European competition for research funds.
ERC Starting Independent Researcher Grants (ERC Starting Grants) aim to support up-and-coming research leaders who are about to establish or consolidate a proper research team and to start conducting independent research in Europe.
