Re-elected CeNS Board welcomes two junior members

Tim Liedl and Christina Scheu join the CeNS Board as advisory members

 

LMU Professors Christina Scheu and Tim Liedl join the CeNS boards as advisory members.

At the annual general meeting of the Center for NanoScience (CeNS), its members re-elected Prof. Thomas Bein, Prof. Hermann Gaub and Prof. Ulrich Schollwöck for a second term of two years as Scientific Board of CeNS. The decision was carried out unanimously without dissenting votes. The board members re-selected Hermann Gaub as the Spokesman of the CeNS board. In addition, the general meeting accepted the proposal of Prof. Gaub, who suggested to nominate two junior members as advisors to the board. The CeNS members unanimously elected Prof. Christina Scheu and Prof. Tim Liedl for this challenging task.

The physicist Christina Scheu earned her PhD at the Max-Planck-Institute in Stuttgart in 1996 where she also worked as a research assistant and group leader later on, interrupted by a research stay at the Technion in Haifa. From 2005 to 2008, Christina Scheu was leading a group at the Department Metallurgy & Materials Testing, Montanuniversität Leoben, Austria. In 2008, she accepted a call from LMU Munich as professor at the Department for Chemistry and Biochemistry.

Tim Liedl received his diploma in physics in 2004 in the group of Wolfgang J. Parak at LMU Munich and earned his PhD in 2007 in the group of Friedrich C. Simmel at the Chair of Jörg Kotthaus. During his PhD studies, he was member of the International Doctorate Program NanoBioTechnology. From spring 2007 until summer 2009, he worked as a PostDoc at William M. Shih's laboratory at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute / Harvard Medical School. In 2009, Tim Liedl accepted a call from LMU Munich as professor for experimental physics at the Chair of Joachim Rädler.
