Keeping it simple: a purified DNA single strand derived from bacteriophage M13 is typically used as scaffold material for DNA origami. This requires time-consuming purification procedures to attain single-stranded DNA. The direct use of intact bacteriophage particles as a scaffold source for DNA origami assemblies is reported.
